Fuel oil production from thermal decomposition of the model and waste polystyrene: Comparative kinetics and product distribution

چکیده
The thermal degradation of model polystyrene (MPS) and waste (WPS) was performed in a thermobalance system at four heating rates (β) i.e., 5, 10, 15 20 °C/min an inert atmosphere. apparent activation energy (Ea) frequency factor (A) for the MPS WPS were calculated using Ozawa-Flynn-Wall (OFW), Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (KAS), Augis-Bennetis (AB) methods. It has been determined that Ea A vary according to fraction conversion, rates, applied models. found be range 91-106, 90-105, 114-133 kJ/mol, while, WPS, 82-160, 79-159 102-202 kJ/mol by applying OFW, KAS, AB models, respectively. From results obtained, it concluded all these methods increases with indicating decomposition follows complex mechanism solid-state reaction. Hence, kinetic parameters, A, seem play key role investigating reactions will provide opportunity develop industrial reactions. show lower compared WPS. This high may due additives used manufacturing different products. Pyrolysis GC/MS indicates main components pyrolysis oil are 1-hydroxy-2-propanone, styrene, α-methyl toluene, 1,2-dimethyl benzene. presence some oxygenated compounds fuel contamination or during processing, as samples collected from garbage dump near local market. can utilized if is properly upgraded make equivalent commercial oil.
